Cooking with Granny Launches on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 on YouTube

New web series combines documentary-style storytelling with grandmothers’ home cooking.

New York, NY, February 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Part cooking show, part docu-series, the "Cooking with Granny" web series will launch on YouTube on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015. The 10-minute web series will air every Tuesday at 8:00 PM (EST) for nine weeks. In each episode, a grandmother from a different culture invites us into her kitchen to share a traditional family recipe and a touching life story. The series will also take viewers on a journey through ethnic grocery stores in East Flatbush, Brooklyn; Chinatown, Manhattan; and Flushing, Queens. Greek octopus stew, Indian vegetable curry and Caribbean hot sauce will be served alongside tales of World War II, the Cold War, immigration to the U.S., domestic violence, and the gendered role of cooking in families.

“It’s a different kind of cooking show,” says Caroline Shin, the creator of “Cooking with Granny.” “It’s like fine wine with cheese -- the perfect pairing of traditional family recipes with authentic life stories.”

Launch Party
Prior to the series premiere, Ms. Shin will host a launch party at 6:30pm on Feb. 24, 2015. There will be a screening of the premiere episode; Q&A with the show’s creator and cast; and delicious Korean-style pork belly, the featured food from the premiere episode.
