SGS New Webinar - Boasting Performance Through ISO 20121

In this one hour complimentary webinar, two ISO20121 experts from SGS and Global event agency MCI will provide an overview of the standard, share experiences of how it has been successful implemented and detail the business case for investing in ISO 20121.

Geneva, Switzerland, February 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The webinar will share insights on today’s key sustainable event trends and share a view on where sustainable events are going. SGS will look at key sustainability issues affecting organizations producing events, and the challenges faced by Global High Profile Events such as the Qatar 2020, and Rio 2016.

Background

Launched in 2012, the ISO 20121 standard was a landmark in sustainability and has accelerated the events industry’s focus on reducing its environmental footprint, and increasing its positive contribution to the economy and society in general. The events industry touches nearly all sectors of society and business, and has a significant positive role to play in sustainable economic development. Many countries, associations and tourism bureaus are realizing this to their advantage and developing the sustainability of their event industries to promote and position sustainability as a value add to the visitors. Thailand is one particular exemplar that we will highlight.

The arrival of ISO 20121 provided a needed guide to support organizations to implement an effective management system, which can be used by any organization – from large stadia, sports events organizers, conference organizers and suppliers - who host or produce events or are part of this value chain.

This webinar builds on a series of successful webinars delivered by SGS to support the growing awareness needs of professionals (and especially sustainability and communications professionals) across the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) Industry and in the wider Travel, Leisure, Tourism and, Hospitality. It is also aimed at events’ organizers and venue owners in the global Sports sector. This webinar builds on the professional competence requirements for professionals operating in the events sector by building their knowledge of the sustainability solutions for their sector.
