Nationwide Appraisal Network Proudly Participates in GR8toDON8 Organ Donation 8k/5k for 2nd Year

Nationwide Appraisal Network cares about the people and communities it serves.

Tampa, FL, March 04, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Life is uncertain and unpredictable. As far as we know, that’s not some profound quote by a famous philosopher, but rather a fact. Just ask Chad Osburn, a 41 year old man from Orlando, Florida. At age 37, Chad was the picture of health…didn’t smoke, ate all the right foods and took great care of himself. One August afternoon, he started having chest pains while cutting his grass. Within half an hour, he collapsed onto the floor of a walk-in clinic where his wife had taken him. She didn’t think for a minute that Chad was having a heart attack. The heart attack that Chad suffered from ended up destroying 90% of his young heart and the only chance for survival was a transplant.

Chad’s story is not uncommon, so why are you reading about it on the blog a real estate appraisal web site?

It so happens that NAN co-founder, Joni Pilgrim, is Chad’s sister-in-law. She had a front row seat to the shock of a young healthy man experiencing life’s unpredictability, and then the acts of love and kindness that can result from such uncertainty. On average, over 115,000 Americans every day are on an organ donation waiting list. Thanks to organizations like TransLife and the generosity of people in the community, so many of those people receive the gift of a second chance. TransLife is East-Central Florida’s federally designated organ and tissue donation program and is responsible for increasing awareness and visibility of organ donation within that region. They are also the main recipient of funds collected by Gr8toDon8, an 8K/5K run being held March 28th, 2015 at 8am starting at Lyman High school in Longwood, FL. Nationwide Appraisal Network is proud to be a sponsor of this special event for the 2ndconsecutive year. “Our family saw firsthand what incredible work these organizations are doing day in and day out,” said Joni Pilgrim. “This is what it’s all about…people helping people. The Gr8toDon8 Event is just a tiny part of the big picture, and there are so many organizations around the country, many counting on unpaid volunteers, who literally make miracles happen.”

The entire staff at Nationwide Appraisal Network has made volunteering and philanthropy an ongoing part of their corporate culture with numerous special causes that warrant their participation all year around. But for obvious reasons, this race and the work of TransLife is near and dear to the heart of Joni, and of course Chad. That’s why the “We Heart Chad” campaign began, and the result was amazing. “Chad had his heart transplant within three weeks and was out of the hospital in 5 weeks. It really was nothing short of a miracle. Between the doctors, organ center and so many people in the community, our family was blessed.”

After nearly three years, Chad’s heart continues pump and he continues to thrive. If you would like to participate in the Gr8toDon8 Event, or if you would just like to contribute to this worthy cause, visit:
