Education Technology Industry Network of SIIA Calls for 2015 Vision K-20 Survey Participants

Newly Launched 2015 Vision K-20 Survey measures classroom, school, campus, district and state progress toward achieving the ETIN-SIIA Vision for K-20 Education.

Washington, DC, March 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Education Technology Industry Network (ETIN) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) announces the launch of its seventh annual Vision K-20 Survey. The Vision K-20 Survey gives educators, administrators and faculty members from K-12 and postsecondary educational institutions the opportunity to evaluate their current technology use and compare it to prior results in a short online survey.

“The ETIN-SIIA Vision K-20 project is designed to provide educators and educational institutions annual data about where they are in using technology. This helps ensure all students have access to learning environments that prepare them to compete globally and lead the world in innovation,” said Karen Billings, vice president and managing director of the ETIN-SIIA. “This year, for the first time, we will ask educators to identify how they are using student data in addition to reporting progress over the last seven years.”

The 2014 survey asked key questions about the educational use of mobile devices in the classroom and educational institutions’ readiness for online, summative assessments. Both K-12 and postsecondary respondents reported an increasing usage of mobile devices and the use of mobile devices primarily for students to access or research digital content online. Almost 60 percent of K-12 respondents reported that they did not feel “highly prepared” with adequate bandwidth or with adequate devices and hardware for online assessments.

“We are delighted to begin our fifth year supporting SIIA and the K-20 Vision Survey,” said Susan Meell, CEO, MMS Education. “We believe this survey provides educators with a unique opportunity to assess the level of technology integration in their institution and then compare the results year over year, as well as compare themselves with others throughout the nation. We are very excited about the new questions added this year that address the effective use of student data because it is so important to educators and education technology companies.”

ETIN-SIIA values the support of its partners and their commitment to improving students’ preparedness for an innovative and global economy. If you are interested in partnering with ETIN-SIIA to help get the word out to educators regarding the Vision K-20 survey, please contact dblubaugh@siia.net.
