Last February, the US Army began issuing uniforms and equipment in the ACU pattern to its combat brigades deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan. Since last October the ACU has been part of the initial clothing issue for new soldiers. All soldiers are expected to be issued clothing in this pattern by 2008 to replace the current battle dress uniform (BDU) and desert camouflage currently in use.

The ACU fabric used is genuine Mil-Spec pattern 1000 denier DuPont Cordura nylon and all corresponding materials such as webbing, Velcro, elastic, pack cloth and plastic hardware are all proper FG-504 Foliage Green as required. This addition to the existing product lines was done to support military customers with their equipment needs as they transition to the new uniform pattern.
