Neighborhood Focused Mobile App Brings New York City Community Together

Morningside Heights NYC is a community of more than 30,000 students and New Yorkers living in one of the Manhattan's most beautiful neighborhoods. The new neighborhood mobile app helps tourists and long-timers alike enjoy the hundreds of sites, restaurants, and performance spaces within walking distance.

New York, NY, March 19, 2015 --(PR.com)-- A free, dynamic guide to the Morningside Heights neighborhood is now available in the App Store to engage students, tourists and residents with real-time events and news, a guide to the top sights, and a must-have list of people, places and things to know. The Morningside Heights app helps users discover or re-discover what is one of New York's most beautiful and unique communities.

Situated between Riverside and Morningside Parks, the neighborhood is characterized by turn-of-the-century low-rise apartments, gothic churches including the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine and Riverside Church, small synagogues, historic and landmarked sites, and "mom and pop" stores. At its center is Columbia University joined by numerous academic institutions and centers of learning. More than 100 venues - performance spaces, lecture halls, and galleries - offer free public events which are a highlight of the up-to-date app.

The app was developed by the Morningside Area Alliance (“MAA”), a membership organization of academic, religious, and cultural institutions in Morningside Heights.
