VASTEC Verified Certification Provides Assurance That Electronic Information Meets Accessibility Standards

Washington, DC, March 22, 2015 --(PR.com)-- VASTEC, a leading provider of scanning, digitization, and Section 508 services to government and commercial clients, adds the “VASTEC Verified” seal of certification to electronic content that meets accessibility standards, which are in keeping with Section 508 mandates and WCAG 2.0 AA guidelines.

“The ‘VASTEC Verified’ symbol provides assurance that we have first reviewed electronic information to determine accessibility and, if necessary, have then remediated and verified it as meeting our internal accessibility standards,” said Rob Salimbene, VASTEC’s Account Manager for Accessibility Services. “With the Access Board now considering a Section 508 refresh, this certification process should be of increased benefit for anyone with accessibility needs as they relate to electronic data.”

Information that is reviewed and initially clears VASTEC testing is eligible for “VASTEC Verified” certification. In instances where remediation is necessary the audit will identify each instance of non-accessibility, with the data then repaired to fix all required issues. As needed the VASTEC remediation process will include the use of visually impaired assistive technology (AT) testers for quality control.

“Each AT team member has the last word on the accessibility of a remediated document, such as a PDF,” said Shelby Tudor, VASTEC’s Accessibility Services Program Manager. “Our AT testers in final QC provide that extra assurance that all federal requirements have been met, including usability. If they approve the document is ready to be delivered to the client, and eligible for ‘VASTEC Verified’ certification.”

VASTEC works to help both government and commercial clients better understand information accessibility and their options through VASTEC’s customized offerings. That is one reason why VASTEC has been chosen to provide Section 508 services to a number of Federal agencies, including the Social Security Administration, the Internal Revenue Service, and the U.S. Government Printing Office.
