RE.WORK Deep Learning Summit is Coming to Boston

Boston, MA, April 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- After the sell-out success of the San Francisco edition, the Deep Learning Summit is coming to Boston. On 26-27 May 2015, 250+ world-leading scientists, engineers and innovators will come together to discuss advances in deep learning and smart artificial intelligence. Learn from the industry experts in speech & image recognition, neural networks and big data. Explore how deep learning will solve real challenges in society and impact the economy.

In San Francisco, the Deep Learning Summit featured speakers from Google, Baidu, Stanford University, MIT, Flickr, Emotient, University of Toronto, Yahoo, MetaMind, Jibo and more. The Deep Learning Summit in Boston will showcase similarly distinguished experts leading the smart artificial intelligence revolution.

Key themes to be discussed at the summit include:

· Speech Recognition
· Neural Networks
· Image Recognition
· Language Processing
· Pattern Recognition
· Advanced Artificial Intelligence
· Machine Learning

The Deep Learning Summit is a unique opportunity to meet influential data scientists, technologists world-leading researchers, entrepreneurs and data engineers all in the same room. What sectors of the economy will be affected by utilizing useful information from the abundant amounts of unstructured data collecting? What challenges can deep learning solve? For example, how will healthcare systems be revolutionised and made more effective by deep learning algorithms to help diagnoses? How will advancements in industrial robotics affect manufacturing and production? What sectors will become more economically efficient through deep learning applications? How can deep learning positively impact the lives of a hundreds of millions of people?

The speaker line-up announced so far includes:

Andrew Ng, Chief Scientist, Baidu
Andrew Ng leads Baidu Research, which comprises three interrelated labs: the Silicon Valley AI Lab, the Institute of Deep Learning and the Big Data Lab. The organization brings together global research talent to work on fundamental technologies in areas such as image recognition and image-based search, speech recognition, natural language processing and semantic intelligence. In addition to his role at Baidu, Dr. Ng is a faculty member in Stanford University's Computer Science department, and Chairman of Coursera, an online education platform that he co-founded.

Meng Wang, CTO & Co-Founder, Orbeus
Meng co-founded Orbeus with the vision to use face and image recognition technology to quickly find photos and key sections of videos. Orbeus provides image and face recognition solutions for businesses through their Rekognition API engine, and their product Phototime, a photo-tagging app that makes sense of not just faces but also scenes and objects. Their approach combines of state-of-the-art deep learning approaches with proprietary modifications to meet the wide range of use-cases from traditional portraits to anything else you might take a picture of with your smartphone, such as whiteboard notes or ID cards.

Richard Socher, Co-Founder & CTO, MetaMind
Richard Socher obtained his PhD from Stanford where he worked with Chris Manning and Andrew Ng. His research interests are machine learning for NLP and vision. He is interested in developing new deep learning models that learn useful features, capture compositional structure in multiple modalities and perform well across different tasks.

Kevin Murphy, Research Scientist, Google
Kevin Murphy is a research scientist at Google in Mountain View, California, where he works on AI, machine learning, computer vision and NLP. Before joining Google in 2011, he was an associate professor of computer science and statistics at the University of British Columbia. Kevin’s research areas include machine perception, artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing.

Modar Alaoui, CEO & Founder, Eyeris
Modar is a serial entrepreneur and expert in AI-based vision software development. He is currently founder and CEO at Eyeris, developer of deep learning-based emotion recognition software, EmoVu, that reads facial micro-expressions. Eyeris uses convolutional neural networks as a deep learning architecture to train and deploy its algorithm in to a number of today’s commercial applications.
