Hypogonadism Knowledge Centre Launches on Medical Education Site epgonline.org

London, United Kingdom, March 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Medical education website, epgonline.org, is pleased to announce the launch of a new Hypogonadism Knowledge Centre. This resource is free to access and intended for healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of men with hypogonadism.

Male hypogonadism is caused by a failure of the testes to produce physiological levels of testosterone, sperm, or both, because of disruption of one or more levels of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis1. Hypogonadism affects a significant proportion of the aging male population and its incidence can be expected to increase as a result of the aging population, increasing life expectancy, and the increasing prevalence of diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome and obesity1.

The Hypogonadism Knowledge Centre can be visited at www.epgonline.org/hypogonadism. A popular feature of this resource is the publications digest section, which contains a collection of regularly published articles by industry experts. These articles cover key background information on the condition and explore the incidence in men with diseases such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes, prostate disease, and asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

As well as the publications digest section, users can expect to find information on etiology, available treatment options and diagnosis information. An additional resources section also lists relevant associations and organisations and links to further reading materials.

Toby Galbraith, Head of Content Strategy for epgonline.org says, “the Hypogonadism Knowledge Centre has been developed in partnership with Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals to provide our users with access to relevant and up-to-date articles and information pertaining to the treatment, diagnosis and overall understanding of the condition.”
