Bellbrook, OH, March 28, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- “On the whole, Americans get far less sleep than they should. Busy lives and hectic schedules are the main reason. People tend to think of sleep as something that can be put off in lieu of more important things,” said George Dalhamer, President and CEO of Hot Spring Spas of Dayton.
“The drawback to that line of thinking is a serious accumulation of possibilities ranging from mild fatigue and lack of concentration to severe depression and even illness,” continued Dalhamer. Here are three ways to sleep healthier.
Cut Out Caffeine – Even die hard coffee drinkers who think they aren’t affected by caffeine at bed time can suffer the effects of the chemicals when sleeping. Many people have a hard time falling asleep after drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages in the evening, but even when a person can fall asleep, they are less likely to sleep soundly or deeply. Healthy sleep requires a period of REM, deep sleep, in order to fully revive the body. Cutting out caffeine entirely, or at least, limiting it to early in the day will help improve sleep habits and allow for a more restful sleep.
Create a Better Sleep Environment – Get rid of clutter in the bedroom. Paint the room pleasing, soothing colors. Eliminate electronic devices and keep the temperature a comfortable 60 to 75 degrees to promote the best possible sleep atmosphere.
Get a Bellbrook Hot Tub at Home – Along with creating a soothing, spa-like atmosphere right in the home, having a hot tub in the yard, on a porch or patio helps improve sleep habits. The National Sleep Foundation lists soaking in a hot tub along with establishing proper sleep schedules as a great way to help people sleep better. Soaking in hot water raises the body temperature and relaxes muscles making it easier for a person to fall asleep, and increases the likelihood of sleeping deeper and more soundly.
