Friends of the National Zoo Opens Search for Executive Director

Washington, DC, March 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) announced today that it has opened a search for a new Executive Director. FONZ is a 57-year old nonprofit organization that exists to support the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. FONZ’s mission is to enrich visitor experiences, deliver transformational member and guest experiences and events, provide active volunteer and public education programs, support the Zoo’s long-term financial sustainability, and build public awareness and support for the Zoo’s conservation mission.

“The new Executive Director will build on a successful foundation and exemplary vision of Bob Lamb, who recently announced his intention to retire this year,” said John Ring, Chair of the FONZ Board of Directors. “The Board is grateful to Bob for his leadership and the passion with which he has led the organization for the past eight years.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader with excellent management acumen who will help make the National Zoo an even more extraordinary destination for over 2 million visitors each year,” Ring added. He noted that the new Executive Director will have the opportunity to collaborate with a unique community of stakeholders at the Zoo and across the region.

FONZ has retained LeaderFit to manage the search. Potential candidates may view the complete job description and submit their application at www.goodjob.org.
