Brooks Rand Labs and Applied Speciation and Consulting Agree to Merge

Seattle, WA, April 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Brooks Rand Labs and Applied Speciation and Consulting announced today that their Boards of Directors have approved a definitive agreement for the companies to merge, forming Brooks Applied Labs. The merger will create an expanded analytical testing and research laboratory focused on measuring metals and metalloid compounds in a wide variety of matrices to serve the specialty testing needs of environmental, industrial, municipal, food and beverage testing, textile, biochemical, and petroleum markets globally.

This transaction brings together the companies' broad expertise in analytical techniques for atomic and molecular analyses of most elements on the periodic table, and continues an established tradition of method development and improvement. The consolidation of scientific experience and understanding will allow novel analytical tools for biochemical monitoring, diagnostic testing, industrial treatment optimization, and ecological risk assessments to become increasingly more available to all market sectors. The combined company will also take advantage of market-leading quality assurance programs from both companies to provide maximum defensibility and scientific cohesiveness.

In our industry, success is measured by data quality, customer service, and meeting the data objectives of any client or project. With this merger, Brooks Applied Labs will become a powerhouse, able to meet not just the current, but all future analytical needs associated with specialty trace metals analysis and metal(loid) speciation.

Michelle Briscoe, Chief Executive Officer of Brooks Rand Labs, said, “We believe the merger between Brooks Rand Labs and Applied Speciation and Consulting will transform the specialty analytical testing market for metals analysis and speciation by bringing together technologies and quality systems that do not exist elsewhere. Our new company has the potential to break through barriers for our clients to bring a new level of understanding to the table. This equates to increasing project efficiencies, optimization of systems before implementation, and making our products and environment safer for generations to come.”

Russell Gerads, Chief Executive Officer of Applied Speciation and Consulting, said, “The overlap of vision between Brooks Rand and Applied Speciation makes this one of the more logical and strategic mergers I have seen recently with regards to the specialty analytical market. Our portfolio of intellectual property, analytical methods, patented technologies, and scientific staff will bring both parties to a new level unheard of for trace element and trace element speciation analyses. Our expectation is that all facets of the companies will benefit culminating into an environment benefiting all clients, employees, and owners."
