Automatic Life, Inc Urges Corporate Giving for Minority Organ Donations

Non-profit public charity request more corporate giving programs to include minority organ donor awareness.

Atlanta, GA, November 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Automatic Life, Inc. a nonprofit public charity 501(c)(3) focusing on increasing awareness for minority organ donations; targeting African American and Hispanic communities the two largest at risk minority populations. Announced today that more corporate giving programs should include minority organ donor awareness on their giving and education agendas. Citing that generally corporate giving programs are only setup to support certain causes throughout the year and minority organ donations and awareness is most often not listed.

“There is an immediate need for corporate giving programs to support the importance of minority organ donations to increase awareness and help to save lives,” stated Andrea Gwyn, President of Automatic Life, Inc. “Corporations can benefit from receiving brand publicity and support a good cause at the same time.”

According to the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services more than 13,500 Hispanics are on waiting lists for organ transplants accounting for 15 percent of all organ transplant wait listed patients. The waiting period for most transplants is 17-53% percent longer for Hispanics than for non-Hispanic Whites. Nearly 24,000 African Americans are on waiting lists for organ transplants accounting for 27 percent of all organ transplant wait listed patients. African Americans comprised 35 percent of the waiting lists for kidney transplants. African Americans are almost four times more likely to have end-stage renal disease than Whites, but they are less likely to be evaluated and placed on waiting lists for kidney transplants in a timely manner. Once on the list, they also tend to wait longer for a transplant.

Automatic Life Inc encourages minority organ donations through education and disease fighting preventive measurements that lead to needing organ transplants.

Healthy diet and disease fighting preventative measurements:

1. Eat low fat foods and reduced salty foods.
2. Exercise regularly, limit alcohol intake, and don't smoke.
3. Make sure to get regular checkups and screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney diseases.
