Platinum Educational Group Announces EMS Scholarships Program

Platinum Educational Group, The Testing and Scheduling Specialists, has started a new EMS scholarships program for students pursuing a career in the Emergency Medical Services field. Platinum’s co-founders, Doug Smith and Tom Gottschalk, were both Paramedics before turning educators in the software industry and started this program as a way to give back to the EMS community.

Grand Rapids, MI, May 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Platinum Educational Group, the Testing and Scheduling Specialists, understands the struggles and obstacles that are presented to the EMS community — especially when it pertains to education. Paramedics turned entrepreneurs, Doug Smith and Tom Gottschalk, shared 50 years of EMS experience before deciding to utilize that knowledge to help educate others. In 2002 they launched the industry leading EMS Testing and Scheduling online software company, Platinum Educational Group. In an effort to give even more back to the EMS community, the two co-founders proudly announce the company’s inaugural EMS Scholarships Program.

Platinum’s goal is to provide students entering the Emergency Medical Services field with assistance in funding his or her education. Former high school teacher, paramedic, and now Platinum CEO Doug Smith states, “EMS is very special to our company and with the rising costs of tuition and program fees, it feels good to assist others in embarking on the dream of providing needed emergency services to our communities.”

There are certain guidelines that must be met in order to be eligible:

* Applicant must be attending an accredited EMT/Paramedic Program
* Provide a copy of student ID and State Identification Card
* Letter of Recommendation Form from Program Instructor (form provided)
* Recipients must provide follow-up photo request by Platinum Educational Group
* A brief essay (Approx. 500 Words) on what interested you in the Emergency Medical Services field and what your plans are upon graduating.

There will be two scholarships offered annually and both are one-time scholarship awards. Potential candidates that are interested in applying need to fit the criteria above and have all paperwork submitted by July 17th, 2015. Both scholarships will be decided by a panel of community advocates. Scholarship winners will be announced at the 20th Annual NAEMSE Symposium: August 4 - 9, 2015 in Nashville, TN. Each Scholarship award is for $1000 and will be given directly to the awardee’s institution.

“As we expand our company’s software programs to include the Allied Health industry, alongside our EMS products, we also look to develop separate scholarship programs to include Nursing, Medical Assistant, and other related fields in the future,” specified Platinum’s COO and co-founder Tom Gottschalk. He also stated, “It feels good to give back.”
