4D Systems Launches Armadillo-43T - Linux-based Computer Display Module with 4.3", 480x272 Pixel Resolution Display with Touch and ARM SoC

4D Systems launched today Armadillo-43T, a Linux-based computer display module with an integrated 4.3-inch, 480x272 pixel LCD TFT Display and Broadcom BCM2835 SoC which combines an ARM1176JZF-S CPU processor with a VideoCore IV GPU.

Sydney, Australia, May 15, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Armadillo-43T is a complete Linux-based computer display module with a built-in 4.3-inch, 480x272 pixel resolution LCD TFT display with resistive touch and an integrated Broadcom BCM2835 System-On-Chip, which combines an ARM1176JZF-S CPU Processor with a VideoCore IV GPU. The Armadillo-43T is designed to utilize the Armadillian Operating System, which is based on Raspbian/Debian making it an ideal all-in-one display solution for developers familiar with the Raspberry Pi.

The Armadillo-43T features 13 GPIO, of which 2 can be used for a single I2C Channel, 5 can be used for a single SPI Channel and 2 can be used for a single Serial UART. Two PWM channels are available, one of which is shared with a Mono Audio Output via the on-board amplifier and mini speaker. An on-board USB A Jack is included for connecting additional devices such as keyboards, USB storage, USB Hubs, WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet and more. The 512MB RAM is shared between the CPU and the GPU. The Armadillo-43T is compatible with the 4DBEZEL-43 allowing easy and clean wall mount installation.

The Armadillo-43T has been developed to utilize the Armadillian Operating System, which is based on Raspbian/Debian and optimized for the BCM2835 System-on-Chip. Compatibility with the Raspbian Linux allows users to take advantage of the majority of applications written for the Raspberry Pi, which has a large following and development community. The operating system is booted up from an image on the microSD card, which is also used for persistent storage.

“Our 3.2-inch and 3.5-inch Primary Displays for the Raspberry Pi as well the Adaptor Shields for our standard display modules have been immensely popular amongst the Raspberry Pi developer community. We are very excited to provide an all-in-one solution and look forward to seeing all the applications developed on the Armadillo-43T.” – James Barkwith, Product Development Manager

The Armadillo-43T is available on its own or as part of two starter kits with a preloaded 4GB Industrial microSD Card and/or a 5V 1A Power Adaptor. Linux Images and modes are available as a free download. The Armadillo-43T is available for purchase directly from 4D Systems or at one of your local distributors. A non-touch version of the Armadillo-43T is available upon request.
