Las Vegas Real Estate Agent at the Ballen Group Leads Team for RED Day

The Ballen Group at Keller Williams Realty will be leading a team of volunteers at this year’s celebration of RED Day.

Las Vegas, NV, May 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- In the middle of May, a team of over 20 people will be participating in RED Day. Red Day is a day that Keller Williams members give back to their community. This year RED Day was celebrated on May 14th. RED stands for Renew – Energize – Donate. The charity which has been chosen for this year’s RED Day is dedicated to the organization NPHY – Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

NPHY is dedicated to helping the homeless youth of Nevada get off the streets and into a shelter. There are 7 shelters which The Keller Williams Summerlin branch on 9420 W Sahara Avenue are volunteering to help clean, paint, and bring in new items such as bedding, kitchen supplies, and anything else which will help those living in these shelters.

NPHY was created in 2000 and their first major accomplishment was to get the “Right to Shelter” Law passed which was a 2001 law. This was a major step for this organization and others like it who had been striving to help homeless kids by providing safety and shelter. It is this organization’s first priority to get these kids to safety, but they then try to pair up these kids with loving relatives who will make sure the children are protected and have a good home.

The kids living in these shelters are 21 and younger, some are younger than 13 years old. Some are college students who are attending school, but have lost the funds to support themselves. To be living in a shelter, these kids must be able to pass a drug test. If they are unable to, other measures are taken to help get the homeless youth off the street.

NPHY Also helps with connecting the young adults found on the street to jobs. The hope for these children is that they are shown how to help themselves and support themselves on their own. This organization has joined forces with several food banks. These food banks will also help feed families which are going through tough times and cannot afford to feed themselves or their children.

The Ballen Group is in charge of fixing up the incoming shelter. This shelter is for both boys and girls who are just getting off the streets. A counselor will interview these kids to determine if it is best to connect them with family or assign them a more permanent shelter.

The Ballen Group has joined forces with Raysco Flooring, Fidelity Home Warranty, Movement Mortgage, and South Western Custom Construction. Raysco Flooring has dedicated several hour’s worth of work to help clean the floors of this shelter. The floors are extremely dirty and it is estimated that just cleaning the dirt and grime off of these floors will take possibly 4 hours.

South Western Custom Construction has been extremely helpful in volunteering their time and many resources to help with the shelter. They have donated painters, paint, and other home supplies in order to make a big difference in this shelter. The children who are currently living in this shelter have no idea what is going on but have been told to vacate the premises from 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Fidelity Home Warranty’s representative Joan Katsuda has volunteered her time and several household items to the shelter. She has also volunteered to bring her brother who is a handy man. Many of the shelter’s kitchen drawers and cabinetry needs handyman work.

Movement Mortgage’s representative at the Keller Williams Summerlin office has also volunteered her time and has also recruited her brother, who is a part of Summerlin Window Cleaners, to clean the windows of the home and they are both bringing resources for RED Day.

Richard Ballen is the co-owner of The Ballen Group and is the group leader for the incoming shelter. Richard has spent countless hours before this event attending meetings, coordinating with venders and team members to ensure this shelter gets the attention it deserves before the homeless youth return at 4:30 PM on May 14th.
