Mackinnon, MD, is Shoenberg Professor, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Chief, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She is the recipient of the prestigious 2013 Jacobson Innovation Award from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and is a member of the Institutes of Medicine.
