Baltimore, MD, May 23, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- The death of Freddie Gray under police custody caused widespread unrest in Baltimore, highlighting the city's status as one of the poorest in the country. As one of America's largest domestic Muslim charities, ICNA Relief USA feels it is their religious obligation to support underserved populations within our country.
This Memorial Day Weekend ICNA Relief and Muslim Social Service Agency will be distributing “blessing bags" to hundreds of homeless in the downtown area of Madison and Fellsway. The bags will contain hygiene products and nutritious snacks. The group will also be visiting other impoverished neighborhoods in the city to distribute the "Blessing Bags" to those in need.
Memorial Day weekend also marks one of the largest gatherings of Muslims in America, at the ICNA Annual Convention, taking place this year in Baltimore, at the Baltimore Convention Center located at 1 W Pratt St, Baltimore, MD 21201. This year’s convention is anticipating over 20,000 attendees. During the convention, ICNA Relief will be encouraging attendees to volunteer in packaging the “blessing bags" on Saturday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM during the convention as well as help distribute these necessities to those in need.
