TCCI Manufacturing and MACS Sponsored Wind Tunnel Clinic Well Attended

Decatur, IL, June 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- T/CCI Manufacturing and MACS (Mobile Air Conditioning Society) Wind Tunnel Clinic, featuring CAT vehicle service and T/CCI climatic wind tunnel technology was held last Friday, May 29th. The event was well-attended and the mobile A/C clinic was a hands-on and diagnostics-centered, perfect for heavy duty and off-road vehicle A/C technicians.

T/CCI Manufacturing provided a demonstration of a “normal” passenger vehicle allowing participants to plot pressure temperatures, superheat, and sub-cooling. Using the same vehicle and climatic wind tunnel continued the charge determination into an “overcharged” condition to demonstrate the effect on not properly compensating for residual oil in the system. T/CCI then pulled charge and oil from the same system which dramatically showed the effect of reduced refrigerant and oil charge. T/CCI facilitated the walk-through of the climatic wind tunnel to demonstrate severe cooling conditions.

Daniel Spurgeon from Caterpillar covered the following topics focusing on service for CAT vehicles:
• Review importance of pulling a deep vacuum
• Refrigerant recovery, system evacuation, and recharge procedure
• Leak detection importance; comparison of different methods
• Review conditioner groups from several machine products (plan to have several units on display)
• Review of individual system components and their function (dryers, accumulators, expansion devices, and more.)

The T/CCI Climatic Wind Tunnel is located in Decatur, IL. Wind tunnel engineers are on-site with direct access to a multi-million dollar R & D lab and engineering test facility. The climatic wind tunnel tests air conditioning cool down, heater warm-up, defrosting, defogging, engine & transmission cooling, road loads, inclines, trailer towing, city traffic simulation, front end airflow, hot or cold soak evaluations and custom test development. Key attributes of the tunnel include temperature control, humidity range, airflow dynamometer, repeat-ability and solar simulation.
