Luang Prabang, Laos, June 05, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- The third Luang Prabang Half Marathon in the ancient capital of Laos is set to kick off on Sunday October 18 this year. Inspired by the morning ritual of saffron-robed and bare-footed monks that line up along the streets and collect alms every day, the half-marathon is entering its third year with more enthusiasm.
The Luang Prabang Half Marathon is all about the act of charitable giving; all the runners’ entry fee and other funds raised will be used to support communities. The minimum donation to guarantee a starting place is US$150 for all the race categories. Last year, the organizers collected some US$75,000 for the Lao Friends Hospital for Children. This year, they’re hoping to draw more interest and raise more money.
This year’s race distances include three separate categories: 7km, 14km and 21km. Runners participating in the half-marathon will wind through many of Luang Prabang’s most beautiful sites such as the former Royal Palace, Phousi Hill and Wat Xieng Thong.
As an active sponsor of the race, Villa Maly has created activities around the race. The hotel’s Runner Package is designed to help participants prepare for the race in a stress free environment. The highlight of the package is massages which will focus on the release of tense muscles and tiredness after the races. Priced at US$368, the Runner Package includes the following:
- Two-night stay in our boutique hotel in Luang Prabang
- Daily breakfast for two
- Return airport transfer
- 4 massages per stay
