)-- UrbanFUTURE will host its first annual summer leadership celebration on Thurs., July 16 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the organization’s headquarters located at 2823 Olive St. The celebration includes entertainment by musician Emily Wallace, food by Pappy’s Smokehouse, and craft beer for those 21 years of age and older. All proceeds will benefit UrbanFUTURE’s programming that prepares underexposed students for the workforce. The event is sponsored by Sonus Benefits, which provides benefits consulting and solutions, as well as wellness programs and risk management.
This summer marks the first year of UrbanFUTURE’s Summer Leadership Academy. The academy focuses on tutoring, leadership and character formation, college financial aid and scholarship awareness, and job search training and resume writing.
Founded in 1998, UrbanFUTURE is a non-profit organization that works with students within St. Louis public schools to foster academic achievement, character growth, and career preparation through connection of the home, school and community.
The event costs $25 per person, which includes bottomless beer and barbecue, and reservations are not required. There will be a raffle offering five nights in a luxury vacation home in Punta Mita, Mexico, as well as Cardinal’s green seats. For more information, call UrbanFUTURE at (314) 776-3434.
