Accretive Health Hosts Annual Charity Golf Outing

Accretive Helping Hands, the not-for-profit organization founded by Accretive Health employees, recently hosted its sixth annual St. Joseph Services Golf Outing at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Ill.

Chicago, IL, June 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- On June 15, Accretive Helping Hands, the not-for-profit organization founded by Accretive Health employees, hosted its sixth annual St. Joseph Services Golf Outing at Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Ill. The event raised more than $76,000 to benefit St. Joseph Services, a Chicago based organization dedicated to supporting local underprivileged families and individuals.

This year, 100 participants attended the annual charity event which featured a golf tournament, dinner and live auction featuring items donated by Accretive Health employees. The auction raised over $28,000.

“The auction was a huge success due to the generous donations we received. Some of the more popular items up for bid were, Chicago Bulls penthouse suite tickets, a ski vacation in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and a Lake Michigan boat outing,” said Bhavna Deole, an Accretive Health manager and a member of Accretive Helping Hands’ board.

All proceeds go to St. Joseph Services and help support outreach programs for more than 600 at-risk individuals of Chicago’s Humboldt Park and Austin neighborhoods. With nine local sites and over 400 trained volunteers, the organization provides an array of accessible educational services, including, English and workplace literacy, tutoring, community outreach and after school programs. Through these services, St. Joseph seeks to position underprivileged individuals to move from a position of poverty to one of “economic, spiritual, and social self-sufficiency.”

Accretive Health began working with St. Joseph Services in 2008 when a junior board was created to help the organization further its mission. The golf outing has since been one of the most successful philanthropic events that Accretive Helping Hands hosts.

“At Accretive Health, we truly enjoy working with St. Joseph Services and furthering its commitment to supporting underserved individuals in our community,” said Chris Hartemayer, a vice president at Accretive Health and president of the Accretive Helping Hands board. “I am proud of our team’s dedication to St. Joseph Services and all of the great work they do.”
