Wake Education Partnership Elects First Citizens’ Senior Vice President as Board Chair for 2015-2016

Raleigh, NC, July 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- WakeEd Partnership (WakeEd), a nonprofit organization committed to improving public education in Wake County, today announced Doug Sprecher, senior vice president of Branch and ATM Strategy with Raleigh-based First Citizens Bank, as chairman of the board of directors for the 2015 – 2016 fiscal year.

As a longtime resident of North Carolina with nearly three decades of banking experience, Sprecher has deep ties in the business community that will position WakeEd for greater success going forward. Sprecher will lead the organization in its mission to collaborate with Wake County citizens, business leaders and the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) to provide every student with excellent educational opportunities, highly effective teachers and strong leaders.

In addition to his work with First Citizens, Sprecher has served as the Leadership Raleigh Alumni Association chair at the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. A longtime member of the Partnership, Sprecher has also served in various PTA roles as his three daughters went through WCPSS. His youngest, Molly, is a senior at Broughton High School, where Sprecher is the PTSA treasurer. Sprecher picks up the torch from Caroline McCullen, Director of Education Initiatives at SAS Institute, who officially finishes her term as Board Chair at the end of June.
