BCS Supports CA Water Conservation

Advises Homeowners to be Watchful for Water Run-Off That Could Cause Mold

Los Angeles, CA, July 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Building Cleaning Services (BCS), (http://buildingcleaningservices.net/) a Los Angeles mold remediation specialist-company and construction cleaning business, has been helping CA home owners with tips to conserve water by preventing water run-off that can intrude into crawl spaces and also cause mold. The company is warning homeowners to be on the watch for water intrusion into the home, especially from watering gardens or leaking faucets—use preventive measures to ensure there’s no water run-off into the property’s crawl space and check for water leaks from different indoor sources. Mold in the crawl spaces underneath a home (or into the home itself) can be particularly hazardous.

On April 1st, California Governor Brown ordered that restrictions be imposed on the use of water to combat the drought emergency. Water restriction should decrease the amount of excess water runoff. In many cases where Building Cleaning Services has been called to address a mold infestation, the cause has been traced back to a water intrusion often caused by improper watering (or from improper drainage systems to combat rain). Sprinklers which water the outside walls of a home also keep the walls wet, and ultimately may cause water seepage into the crawl spaces below a home.

California homeowners are urged to check several things in addition to water conservation steps:

- Check your home’s sprinklers to see if they spray the walls or air vents of your home, and adjust them so they don’t.
- Check the sprinkler systems to ensure there is no water runoff. If there is, get the sprinklers adjusted.
- Find out if the runoff has gone anywhere near the building’s walls.
- Turn off all of the water in your home and check your water meter reading, then check it again in half an hour. This will indicate the quantity of water which is going somewhere it shouldn’t.

If any signs of water leaks are present, homeowners should take fast action to address it. Also if signs of mold are present, such as a musty odor indoors or any visible mold in the home, action must be taken to address the mold and address the source of the water leaks in the home. Failure to do so puts the building occupants at health risk from the mold infestation, as well as allowing structural damage from the water leaks. Take fast action to address it before it becomes a bigger problem.

Building Cleaning Services has many years of experience in handling Los Angeles mold infestations. One of their clients said: “These gentlemen helped me remediate mold at my house, and then dry out a huge water leak before mold could form at my wife's family's house--in the span of about a month. Their service was responsive, fast, professional, and courteous. They answered any question that I had, and the pricing was transparent and understandable. I really couldn't have been happier. They made the best out of two dicey situations.”
