Michigan Based Mobile Safety Accessories Joins USDOT Connected Vehicle Research Group

Technology enhanced rear view mirror company will work with affiliates to bring safety, and innovation to the connected vehicle test bed.

Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, July 12, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Mobile Safety Accessories LLC based in Michigan, has joined an affiliation of infrastructure device makers, and automotive professionals, with a goal to expand deployment of Vehicle to Infrastructure (V-I), and Vehicle to Vehicle (V-V) communications.

The Affiliated Test Bed, organized by the Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), will focus on deployment of Connected Vehicle technology, the wireless exchange of critical safety and operational data between vehicles, and specific road infrastructure like traffic signals. The technology is intended to avoid or mitigate motor vehicle crashes and can also lead to fuel savings and emission reduction.

Connected Vehicle technology is designed to link mobile devices or vehicle navigation systems with roadway infrastructure, including traffic signals. The technology will warn drivers to avoid collisions, or inform them of an impending severe weather condition. Mobile safety accessories, along with its partners, are now road testing an aftermarket solution to easily connect any vehicle to this technology, without compromising safety.

The DOTs connected vehicle test bed will help ensure all future Connected Vehicle applications are based on common implementations of the communications technology and will harness the collective abilities of its members. Goals of the Affiliated Test Bed include information exchange between members, sharing deployment lessons learned, developing a common technical platform for V-I communications, and expanding test bed options for users. Mobile Safety Accessories along with their partners are currently participating in a Connected Vehicle test bed with the U.S. DOT in Michigan.

“We at Mobile Safety Accessories are very excited to be a part of this innovative group that understands the importance of advancing in-vehicle technology. We feel that with our focus on driver, and product safety we can help to facilitate the integration these cutting edge systems into existing vehicles.” said Richard Parks Co-Founder of Mobile Safety Accessories LLC. “The Connected Vehicle platform something that we believe will truly save lives, and continue to grow as more and more vehicles become connected.
