Exceptional Children’s Foundation Receives Grant from the Alcoa Foundation

Culver City, CA, August 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) is pleased to announce the award of a grant from the Alcoa Foundation. This grant for the ECF Kayne Eras Center School will support the work of the Kayne Eras Coding Academy, which teaches basic programming and computer science principles to ninth and tenth grade students with special needs. The grant also supports the Alcoa Foundation’s efforts to develop the next generation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) professionals.

“Since technology is a way for many young people to become more engaged with learning and interacting with their peers, we look forward to expanding our coding program to the tenth grade and are very grateful to the Alcoa Foundation for this gift,” said Scott Bowling, President and CEO of the Exceptional Children’s Foundation.

“On behalf of Alcoa Foundation, we are so pleased to award this grant to the Coding Academy at the ECF Kayne Eras Center School, since we think that STEM education and training provide critical skills to prepare young people for the workforce,” explained Sarena Frank of Alcoa AFSR Carson aerospace fasteners operations.
