Growing Interest in International Cuisine Drives Culinary Program Changes at the Art Institute

Students taught a wider variety of world cuisines in addition to fundamental skills.

Santa Ana, CA, December 06, 2007 --(PR.com)-- To meet the increased demand for international cuisine, The Art Institute of California – Orange County joins over 30 other Art Institutes schools in introducing an enhanced culinary arts program that prepares aspiring chefs to satisfy the sophisticated palates of today’s consumers.

Beginning through advanced culinary courses will introduce students to a wider variety of world cuisines while still teaching the fundamental skills needed to succeed in the culinary industry. In addition to core skills, students may learn specific techniques such as knife skills used in Asian cooking or the proper way to spice an Indian dish.

“Students need to be exposed to foods from different Latin American and Asian countries as well as the Middle East, the Mediterranean and everywhere in between,” said Culinary Arts Academic Director Paul Yarmoluk. “We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to help our students become versatile, creative and well-rounded culinary professionals.”

The culinary programs at over 30 Art Institutes locations across North America were introduced as The International Culinary Schools at The Art Institutes on Nov. 6. Based on the number of locations, The Art Institutes schools represent North America’s largest system of culinary programs.
