Oracle Ups Its Cloud Game with Latest Addition to PaaS

Oracle has announced more than 24 new cloud services with an emphasis on extending Oracle’s leadership with world’s largest and deepest portfolio of SaaS, PaaS, and laaS.

Santa Clara, CA, August 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Oracle has announced more than 24 new cloud services with an emphasis on extending Oracle’s leadership with world’s largest and deepest portfolio of SaaS, PaaS, and laaS. These new additions will build a comprehensive, integrated suite of services which will make life easy for developers, IT professionals, business users and analyst to build, extend and integrate cloud applications.

The Oracle cloud platform helps the customer build new applications, extend existing ones, and easily move existing on-premises workloads to the cloud with no application changes. The new Oracle cloud platform and infrastructure services include Oracle Database Cloud - Exadata Svc, Extreme Performance Svc, High Performance Svc, Oracle Java SE, Oracle Node, Oracle JRuby, Oracle Application Builder, Oracle Social Network, Oracle Data Visualization, Oracle SOA service, Oracle Big Data Preparation, Oracle Big Data Discovery, Oracle Big Data Cloud, Oracle Data Transfer, Oracle Exadata, Oracle Archive Storage Cloud, Oracle Internet of Things, Oracle Direct Connect, Oracle Site-to-Site VPN, Oracle File Storage, Oracle Integration Cloud, Oracle Mobile Cloud, and Oracle Process Cloud.

“We’re able to call our cloud services complete, with today’s announcement. You can move all your applications out of the data center and into the Oracle cloud,” said Larry Ellison, executive chairman, and chief technology officer, on a webcast. “Oracle is the only company on the planet that can deliver complete, integrated, standards-based suite of services at every layer of cloud. Our new archive storage goes head-to-head with Amazon glacier and it’s one-tenth their price.”

With more than 1800 customers, Oracle’s cloud services are on a role experiencing rapid change and powering some of the world’s well-known brand. In addition, Oracle has sold $426M worth of business in SaaS and PaaS last quarter, a staggering 200 percent increase compared to same quarter last year.

However, Oracle claims that the wide range of automation which has been engineered into the Oracle cloud results in faster time-to-value, greater innovation, and lower cost for customers. Oracle now also offers online services for enterprise resource planning, managing the customer experience, management of human resources, management of business performance, and management of services supply.

Oracle’s move will definitely leave rivals like Amazon, Microsoft, and IBM thinking. It’s been quite a turnaround for Oracle as in 2012 they were hardly into software services and currently over 1,000 organizations are using the Oracle’s enterprise resource planning services. “We are winning big time in ERP in the cloud,” Ellison said. “We are growing a lot faster than rival Salesforce.com.”

Commenting on Oracle’s new release, Vikram Samdare – Oracle Practice Director, SA Technologies said, "Oracle becomes the only cloud provider offering a complete line of enterprise software services, platform services, and infrastructure services, with new 24 new platforms and infrastructure services all under the Oracle Cloud Platform. There's an excellent value proposition here, Oracle can provide the customer all cloud – Applications, Platforms and Infrastructure under one roof and customers don't have to follow up with different vendors while they get best of the breed solutions. Oracle has provided the flexibility to customers to choose whatever is best suitable for their business – public or private cloud model, the coexistence of cloud solutions without disturbing existing suite of applications. Oracle’s integration service also provides great flexibility to integrate not only Oracle Cloud applications but also other applications across cloud models. The new integration service will solve big issues and help the customer to take decisions faster.”

He added, “We are certain that the combination of low pricing and a comprehensive cloud product portfolio will win more customers. Cloud products are inherently lower priced than their on-premise counterparts which actually benefits both the categories of customers – existing and new.” At SAT, they follow all Oracle news closely to help the customers get best solutions.
