Make Your Organisation More Sustainable with the World’s First Fully Biodegradable Synthetic Work Glove, the Showa 4552

The world’s first fully biodegradable, synthetic work glove, the Showa 4552, is now available to protect workers from hand injuries right across the construction, highways, logistics, landscaping, maintenance and manufacturing industries. The multi-purpose glove offers hand protection, powerful grip and biodegradability, without sacrificing performance and can enhance corporate environmental credentials.

Manchester, United Kingdom, August 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Showa 4552 has a unique ‘biodegradable’ characteristic which is made possible with Showa’s innovative Eco Best Technology™ (EBT) within both the liner and the sponge nitrile coating. Without the EBT additive, nitrile can take decades, if not hundreds of years, to biodegrade and break down in landfill whereas the biodegradation rate of the Showa 4552 is far more rapid, typically within 24 months.

The grip glove protects hands from oils, dirt, grease and abrasion when carrying out manufacturing assembly work, machine servicing, refuse collection, warehousing, logistics and other tasks. The nitrile coated palm provides excellent grip in all conditions and the glove retains its grip in oily conditions due to the glove coating’s oil absorbency properties.

Globus has over two decades of experience in protecting hands with significant research and knowledge gained from working with companies whose workers’ hands are exposed to a multitude of hazards in the most extreme conditions. As a result its comprehensive range of gloves boasts impressive attributes.

Many of them are designed for long periods of wear and allow excellent dexterity, comfort and durability. The Showa 4552 is no exception and offers an anatomically designed fit for excellent comfort with an elasticated cuff to secure the glove in place. The glove liner is breathable to help keep hands comfortable during long periods of wear and can be repeatedly machine washed.

The glove has a 15 gauge, seamless lightweight liner and a sponge nitrile coating for optimal, long lasting grip. When the glove eventually needs to be disposed of, the glove’s environmental credentials outperform most, if not all, of the existing gloves on the market.

The EBT organic additive is designed to make the Showa 4552 attractive to microbial activity in landfill. Upon consumption of the EBT formulation, micro-organisms excrete enzymes that depolymerise the nitrile and polyester liner. The result is biogases and nitrous soil. Independent research laboratories place the time between one and five years depending on landfill site conditions. The Showa 4552 becomes the second fully biodegradable synthetic product, following the introduction of the world’s first biodegradable nitrile disposable glove last year; the Showa 6105PF.

Steve Shale, Marketing Manager of Globus said, “As well as feeling comfortable and with a durable palm, customers are very impressed that the Showa 4552 glove deals responsibly with its end-of-life disposal, seeing it as a positive step forward as well as enhancing a company’s environmental credentials.”

Showa 4552 gloves are very durable with certification to EN 388: level 4 (the maximum level for abrasion) and are available in five sizes in ‘eco-friendly’ green.
