Chrysallis - Close to Disability Will Participate in the Kick-Off Meeting of the "European Dimension in Parent Education" European Project
Athens, Greece, December 09, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Chrysallis - Close to Disability will participate in the kick-off meeting of the “European Dimension in Parent Education” European project that will take place on 11-14 December 2007 in Riga, Latvia. The “European Dimension in Parent Education” project is funded by the Life Long Learning, Grundtvig (Learning Partnership) programme.
The ultimate goal of the project is to establish an international partnership of different organizations from Estonia, Greece and Latvia, which provide parent education in their countries, for enhancement of opportunities and motivation of parents of disadvantaged groups for lifelong learning.
The main activities of the project are to identify the best practices of involvement of adult learners - parents of minority families, parents of families of children with disabilities, poor families and other disadvantaged groups - in parent education, to analyse the factors, which promote the most efficient impact on involvement of parents of disadvantaged groups in adult education and its effectiveness, and to enhance the knowledge and skills of the partners necessary for successful parent education.
Chrysallis is a non-profit and voluntary organisation based in Athens, Greece, that strives to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. They, as Chrysallis, work against the discrimination and exclusion that people with disabilities face in all aspects of society and aim at their socio-economical and educational integration, offering them opportunities for life long learning, support and knowledge in new technologies.
The knowledge and experience of Chrysallis members on disability issues provides guidelines and suggestions for the best interest of people with disabilities focusing on innovative educational methods, research on accessibility issues, equality, independence as well as establishing good practices.
