Charlotte Woman Takes AG First in World's Largest Triathlon

A local woman to Charlotte, NC wins her age group division in the Transamerica Chicago Triathlon 2015, where competitors come from around the globe.

Charlotte, NC, September 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, a woman from Charlotte, NC beat 52 other females in her age group to claim first prize in the Chicago Transamerica Triathlon, known as the “World’s Largest Triathlon.” Laura (Schiltz) Gilchrist, who competed in the 45-49 Female Age Group at the event, jumped into the chilly 62-degree waters of Lake Michigan to climb out only 6 back after the 1 mile swim. She then hopped on her bike and cycled 40 kilometers where she overtook the first five women ahead of her to finish 1st in the cycling element. Immediately after the bike ride, Gilchrist swapped out shoes and ran a 10K staying in the lead to finish just over a minute faster than the woman who came in second. By winning this USA Triathlon sanctioned event, Gilchrist has qualified for the 2016 Olympic-Distance National Championships. Gilchrist owns Studio 1-on-1 Fitness Training, a private studio where she works as a personal trainer in the South End area of Charlotte. She was awarded Charlotte Magazine’s BOB Award in 2015 for Best Personal Trainer and works with triathletes, runners, cyclists and anyone willing and wanting to improve their overall health and wellness.
