Fisher & Phillips Expands Memphis Office with Addition of Rob Ratton

Memphis, TN, September 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Fisher & Phillips LLP today announced the addition of attorney Robert W. Ratton to the firm’s Memphis office. Ratton has held several of counsel positions in Memphis and has taken over 30 jury trials to verdict.

As Of Counsel with Fisher & Phillips, Ratton advises clients regarding a wide range of employment law matters including FMLA, FLSA and EEOC-related issues. Prior to joining the firm, Ratton worked as a Staff Attorney at TruGreen Limited Partnership, where he represented the business unit in employment mediation and advised on dispute resolution process, EEOC and various employment law issues. Before that, he served as the Assistant City Attorney-Litigation at the City of Memphis Attorney's Office, where he represented the City before the administrative body and provided legal and strategic advice on First Amendment and labor and employment issues. Prior to working for the City of Memphis, he was an Assistant District Attorney for the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, as well as a member of the Legal Methods Adjunct Faculty at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Ratton was also lead counsel on the first gang injunction in Shelby County and worked with the Governor’s office to draft the current legislation that rules on these injunctions.

Ratton currently serves as a Board Member for Latino Memphis. He formerly held a board position with the Association of Corporate Counsel in Tennessee and was a member of the Memphis Bar Association Leadership Forum. In 2011, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Shelby County District Attorney General. Ratton is also a member of the Mayor’s Multicultural Coalition, a group appointed by Memphis Mayor A C Wharton to encourage greater awareness of cultural diversity in the city.

Ratton earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he served on the Moot Court Board. After law school, Ratton was a Fellow for the Criminal Defense Section State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina, helping to establish rule of law in the first domestic tribunal to adjudicate war criminals. He also received a bachelor's degree in anthropology and religious studies from Tulane University. He is admitted to practice before the state courts of Tennessee.
