The Battlegrounds Adds New Challenges and Mini Course to Upcoming Race

St. Louis' largest permanent mud run obstacle course creates more hurdles for October race.

St. Louis, MO, September 17, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Battlegrounds, St. Louis’ largest permanent mud run obstacle course, recently added new obstacles and a mini obstacle course to its race. The challenges are designed to test the strength and skill of its runners.

The obstacles include The Punisher, a 13-foot high wall featuring a 45 degree angle that a racer runs up, reaches a platform, and then climbs down a rope. The Triple Threat is a 20-foot wide and 10-foot tall quarter pipe. The runner runs up the pipe, climbs across 10 feet of cargo net, and then hurries down a 15-foot ladder. Various four-, five-, six- and eight-foot walls are now sprinkled throughout the course for added challenges.

The Battlegrounds also added a post-race mini obstacle course. Two people compete against each other in a series of challenges including six-foot barrel jumps, a 45 degree inverted wall, a 10-foot monkey bar climb, crawl-under walls, and teeter totters while carrying 40-pound sandbags.

The seventh bi-annual race is set for Sat., Oct. 3 beginning at 8 a.m. Runners can select either a 5k/3.2-mile or a five-mile mud run where they will experience the demands of more than 30 military-themed obstacles for those who want to test their physical and mental abilities. The Battlegrounds is located at 11008 Schreckengast Rd. in Wright City, Mo. next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery and event venue.

The Battlegrounds also is teaming up with The Mission Continues and Operation Food Search. Proceeds will benefit The Mission Continues, a national non-profit organization based in St. Louis that deploys military veterans into community service leadership roles at home. The Battlegrounds will work with Funds2Orgs.com to collect and donate racer’s shoes with proceeds benefitting The Mission Continues. Operation Food Search, which is the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state area, will hold a canned food drive.

All participants must be 18 years of age or older. The race costs $120 before Sept. 18; $140 before Sept. 30 and; $160 before Oct. 3. Groups of five or more are highly encouraged to register, and VIP upgrade options are available to all. For more information, call (314) 569-3005 ext.114.
