Singapore, Singapore, September 20, 2015 --(PR.com
)-- Tuesday, 8th September saw the opening ceremony for a US$2 million Underground Mine Training Environment situated at the Site Skills facility within the Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga, Philippines. The Indodrill Group is proud to have provided a new Sandvik DE150 Underground Rig as its contribution to the new venture.
Representing Indodrill at the event were Matt Semmens, Group General Manager, Phil Taylor, Group Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager and Chris Lane, the newly appointed Philippines Country Manager for the company.
The 240-square-meter state-of-the-art facility, which is considered the biggest in the world and also Asia’s only Underground Metalliferous Mining Simulator, provides underground tunnel environments with standbys and drives for jumbo operations, fuel refilling, vehicle storage, a refuge chamber, crib room and magazine replicating the areas with the same equipment as found within a working underground mine.
According to Taylor “This is quite simply one of the best such training facilities in Asia, if not globally, and we, as a group, are delighted to be involved in ensuring that safety and good work practices can be transferred in such a realistic environment.” Adding “as part of our stated corporate commitment to health & safety within the industry we couldn’t pass up an opportunity such as this to underline that message, actions speaking louder than words, as it were.”
The main corporate sponsors of the project are the OceanaGold group, with whom Indodrill has a long working relationship, who have created the facility for the training of highly skilled underground miners for its own Didipio mine in Northern Luzon as well as for those of other national and internationally recognized mining companies.
Indodrill remains focused on the three critical benchmarks for their business: market-leading drilling techniques, outstanding customer service and an unsurpassed safety record.
