All-Star Island: Puerto Rico Health and Wellness Initiative Sponsors World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress

Puerto Rico Health and Wellness Stakeholders to Showcase Investment Opportunities, at Medical Tourism Association® Conference, Sept. 27-30, 2015, in Orlando, Fla.

Orlando, FL, September 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- As part of an ambitious strategy to attract health and wellness consumers and propel investment opportunities on the island, the Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation will serve as a platinum sponsor of the 8th World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress, Sept. 27-30, 2015, in Orlando, Fla., the Medical Tourism Association® announced today.

The Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation, an arm of the commonwealth’s tourism structure, is in the midst of an aggressive campaign – one that has already included certified training for hospital and hospitality professionals -- to market the island’s healthcare services to international patients. In the next years, those efforts are hoped to create some 3,000 jobs and inject $300 million into the island’s economy.

Private sector investors and entrepreneurs have been jumping on board by participating in online educational workshops offered through the Medical Tourism Association® that identify healthcare and tourism services in Puerto Rico and the public officials who want to partner with them to transform the Caribbean island into a hub for medical tourism.

In a move designed to outline Puerto Rico’s key stakeholders and strengths - among them several tax incentives that have spawned opportunities for growth - Francisco G. Bonet, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation, and Ingrid Rivera, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, will present “Puerto Rico Medical Tourism: Our Island, Your World of Opportunity,” Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, 11 a.m., in the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla.

Bonet said Puerto Rico is part of the United States and is bound by the federal and state legal systems. The Puerto Rico Medical Tourism Corporation is promoting medical and dental services at a cost of 40 percent to 60 percent lower than offered in the continental U.S. Proximity to the mainland figures to be especially appealing to American medical tourism patients.

Renée-Marie Stephano, President of the Medical Tourism Association®, said the Congress agenda also features the 6th Global Ministerial Summit, the 4th Medical Directors Summit, the 3rd Global Women’s Leadership Summit, Arab Health and Wellness Summit, regional and industry forums, and educational workshops included among more than 1,000 networking meetings for up to 200 qualified buyers of healthcare. Participants, sponsors and invited speakers can keep abreast of Congress updates at www.MedicalTourismCongress.com.
