Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema to Address Women Business Owners on Gender Equality Oct. 14

Phoenix, AZ, September 27, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 14 meeting of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Phoenix Chapter. NAWBO members and their guests will hear about gender equality from Congresswoman Sinema as well as receive updates about legislation currently being reviewed and supported by National NAWBO.

Born in Tucson, Sinema is the U.S. Representative from Arizona's 9th Congressional District. She was first elected in 2012 after she served in both chambers of the Arizona State Legislature. Sinema graduated as high school valedictorian at age 16 and went on to earn her B.A. from Brigham University in 1995 at age 18. She received her Master of Social Work from Arizona State University in 1999. In 2004, she earned a J.D. from Arizona State University College of Law and in 2012, she earned a PhD. in Justice Studies, also from ASU.

Sinema was a social worker from 1995 to 2002. She also practiced law in the Washington Elementary School District. Sinema served as an adjunct Business Law Professor at Arizona Summit Law School, formerly known as Phoenix School of Law. She became a criminal defense lawyer in 2005, and has also been an adjunct instructor in the ASU’s School of Social Work since 2003.
