ABD’s Providence Community Team Kicks Off with Golf Tournament and Party to Raise Funds for American Cancer Society

Providence Golf and Country Club Community is a development of neighborhoods by national builders, just southwest of Orlando. Sponsored by ABD Development, the Providence Golf Club, and other contributors, its team raises money for the American Cancer Society. Every year the total amount of funds raised increases from the year before, and 2015 is proving to be no exception. Events including a golf tournament and dinner party are forthcoming in October and open to the public.

Davenport, FL, September 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The month of October will start off strong for the fundraising team of Providence Golf and Country Club Community with the Annual Pink Classic Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 3rd. Individual golfers and teams are encouraged to sign up for a great day of golf, giveaways, and camaraderie for a cause that is close to everyone’s heart, especially those that have lost a loved one to breast cancer.

“We have so many amazing prizes and sponsorships this year and entertainment by Buddy Shelton, also known as Golf’s Greatest Entertainer,” says fundraising organizer for Providence, Margaret Hines. “The Pink Party on October 9th is also shaping up to be amazing again too. We have had some very generous donations for silent auction items and some really cool basket raffles too. And again we are blessed with an evening of entertainment by Scooter The D.J.”

As there has been in past years, there will be a specially created 2016 calendar to raise funds. This year it is entitled "Providence Picassos” and features artwork submitted by residents and local kids from kindergarten up to grade 12. All entries will be featured on display at the Pink Party and the calendars will be on sale through the mail or at the Providence Residents’ Clubhouse.

New this year is the participation of Dundee Elementary and Loughman Oaks Elementary Schools. They are sponsoring "pink days" where the children are allowed to "dress down" from their uniforms if they make a small donation to the American Cancer Society. The Providence fundraising team plans to reward the winning classrooms with parties. Getting all ages involved in the cause has been a great boost to the usual events.

As always, delicious baked goods can be found for sale in the lobby of the Residents’ Clubhouse. Margaret Hines adds, “Our two biggest events, the Pink Classic Golf Tournament and the Pink Party, would not be possible without the generous support of the Providence Golf Club, in particular General Manager, Tim Greco, and his hard working staff. This is a venue that has enabled us to do so much right here within the community.”

The annual 5K walk for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer will be on October 31st at Lake Eola and anyone is welcome to join the Providence team. The team earned the #1 spot on "tent row" last year by being the #1 non-corporate fundraisers for 2014 and the goal is to do the same this year. “But we welcome the challenge of all the other teams to take our spot, because with this type of attitude maybe someday we will have met our final goal: to make breast cancer a thing of the past,” Margaret Hines says.
