Honor Society Students at DePauw Adopt Family

Washington, DC, December 13, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Members of DePauw University’s chapter of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) showed that this truly is the season of giving; they "adopted" a local family in need.

The family, which includes a mother and four children, lost its Greencastle home in a fire. The DePauw NSCS chapter decided to raise funds to help them. The chapter raised $776 that will be given to the family in the form of gift cards to Wal-Mart, Kroger, and Pizza Hut.

The fundraising plan was coordinated by DePauw’s chapter officers which include its president, Anna Boyd, who is a senior and biology major. Boyd and her fellow officers regularly consult with their program manager in the NSCS national office, Alicia Mandac, who provides them with feedback and advice on running the chapter.

“The DePauw University NSCS chapter has been very active in community service work in their area,” said Alicia Mandac, NSCS’ Manager of Member Experience-Chapters. “The members and officers have truly made a difference this holiday season and NSCS is proud of the work they have done.”
