The Battlegrounds Collects Cans for Operation Food Search

Seventh bi-annual St. Louis race holds canned food drive to support community.

St. Louis, MO, October 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Battlegrounds, St. Louis’ only permanent mud run and obstacle course, recently held its seventh bi-annual race and collected 509 pounds of food for Operation Food Search. The donation is valued at $860.21 and represents enough food to feed 127 people for one day.

The canned food was sent to Agape Ministry of Warren County, which feeds approximately 1,000 Warren County residents each month at its food pantries located in Warrenton and Wright City.

“We are proud to work with Operation Food Search once again,” said The Battlegrounds’ owner Carl Bolm. “Less people will go hungry in our nearby community thanks to the support of our dedicated runners.”

Operation Food Search was established in 1981 to address the growing problem of hunger in the St. Louis area. As the largest distributor of free food in the bi-state area, the organization distributes more than three million pounds of food and household essentials to nearly 250 community partner agencies, which in turn feed nearly 200,000 poor people each month, nearly one-third of whom are children. For every dollar donated by individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations, OFS provides $21 worth of food and nutrition services to support the hungry.

The Battlegrounds is located at 11008 Schreckengast Rd. in Wright City, Mo. next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery and event venue. For more information, call (314) 569-3005 ext. 114.
