Conquering Cancer: Medical Tourism Association® Honors California Neurosurgeon for Excellence in International Oncology

Dr. Daniel Kelly, director of Brain Tumor Center at Saint John's Health, recognized at World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress, in Orlando, Fla.

Palm Beach Gardens, FL, October 31, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Considered one of the top practicing neurosurgeons by both his peers and – most importantly – his patients, Dr. Daniel Kelly, director of the Brain Tumor Center at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif., has been honored for Excellence in International Oncology, the Medical Tourism Association® announced today.

“Dr. Kelly has helped to advance a new era of neurosurgery -- one in which brain tumors and those of the skull base can be removed through smaller, more precise openings,” said Renée-Marie Stephano, president of the Medical Tourism Association®, at the 4th annual awards ceremony during the 8th World Medical Tourism and Global Healthcare Congress, 2015, in Orlando, Fla. “He has shared these cutting-edge practices with patients and physicians worldwide and, thus, improved the quality of and access to care. No one appreciates this more than those whose lives have been touched by cancer.”

In 20 years of practice, Dr. Kelly, a professor of neurosurgery at the John Wayne Cancer Institute, has performed more than 1,600 endonasal surgeries – 700 of which were endoscopic – and more than 1,600 craniotomies for brain and skull base tumors. His current surgical practice encompasses the full spectrum of brain and skull base tumors, both benign and malignant, treated with minimally invasive and conventional approaches.

The World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress accepts nominations to honor leadership, innovation, education, service and top facilities and destinations in the care and treatment of both international- and domestic-traveling patients.

Stakeholders who make up the billion-dollar medical tourism industry are encouraged to forward news of tremendous performances that recognize customer-focused care, international quality and standards, patient safety and satisfaction, effective leadership and state-of-the-art technology within the calendar year 2015-2016.
