Trading Places: Medical Tourism Association® Hosts B2B/B2G Mission to Key Cities in China

Business opportunity platform complements World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress -- Asia-Pacific 2015, Nov.14-16, in Guilin, China

Palm Beach Gardens, FL, November 12, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Chinese healthcare companies -- expected to be engines of future growth for the country’s economy in the form of medical tourism, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, digital fitness devices, senior care and hospitality and travel dollars – will be the focus of a five-day, three-city B2B and B2G trade mission to key cities in China, the Medical Tourism Association® announced today.

Renée-Marie Stephano, president of the Medical Tourism Association®, said the trade mission inside China will connect multinational healthcare interests with local companies to tap into markets that address among others China’s aging population and to develop technologies for chronic ailments including heart disease and diabetes that could prolong and improve lives.

“Smart money stays ahead of demographic trends,” said Stephano, who noted that the trade mission complements the World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress – Asia-Pacific 2015, Nov. 14-16, 2015, in Guilin, China. “Weak hospital infrastructure and a scarcity of doctors coupled with a growing senior population -- some 223 million people aged 65 or older are predicted to live in China by 2030 -- are just too enticing for healthcare companies around the world to ignore.”

Healthcare spending – from pharmaceuticals to medical products to consumer health - is predicted to reach $1 trillion by 2020, ranking China among the world’s most attractive markets, and by far the fastest-growing, according to the consultancy McKinsey & Co. The government investment in healthcare is making access to medical technology, such as pacemakers, defibrillators, insulin pumps and spinal products, that much easier for hundreds of millions of new Chinese patients.

“China is positioned to be one of the largest outbound medical tourism markets in the world, with rising income and a growing demand for the best medical treatments possible, coupled with the launch of health insurance for Chinese citizens that will include travel benefits,” said Stephano. “The Congress and accompanying trade mission are events that coordinate east with west to create new business partnerships and affiliations with Chinese and Asian companies.”
