Atlantic Shores Retirement Community Partners with Chesapeake Regional Healthcare to Expand Resident Healthcare Options

Virginia Beach, VA, December 02, 2015 --(PR.com)-- In a unique strategic alignment of two local independent organizations, Atlantic Shores Retirement Community in Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare (CRH) have joined forces to integrate CRH’s award-winning healthcare services at Atlantic Shores’ Seaside skilled nursing facility, and The Wellness Clinic at Atlantic Shores.

The partnership brings together two independent entities supporting each other to offer a comprehensive continuum of care, giving patients access to an abundance of resources typically unavailable within a small independent healthcare community.

Through this partnership, Atlantic Shores’ healthcare staff will be able to utilize CRH’s electronic medical records, technologies and additional resources. Director-level specialists from Chesapeake Regional Healthcare will also provide on-site guidance for quality, infection control and discharge planning. CRH will work directly with Atlantic Shores Medical Directors Dr. Daniel McCready and Dr. Paul Johnstone in managing all provided services.

Patients at Atlantic Shores do not have to select Chesapeake Regional Medical Center as their hospital, but will have access to specialty doctors such as cardiologists and orthopedic surgeons who are part of the CRH physician system. The partnership also offers patients a broadened acceptance of in-network insurance providers.

Healthcare professionals at Atlantic Shores will also be able to expand their skills by utilizing CRH’s training programs, and benefit from supplemental staffing as needed.

The partnership also offers the potential for future addition and expansion of on-site health care services, including Medicare-certified home health services, in addition to the private duty home health services currently offered to all Atlantic Shores residents.

According to Atlantic Shores General Manager Eden Jones, “Atlantic Shores believes in person- centered care. As such, ASCA forged an alliance with CRH to foster an environment where the lines between levels of care are removed, and where patient outcomes come first. By partnering with CRH, Atlantic Shores is able to enhance communication and coordination through all levels of needs and recovery, resulting in better care and outcomes. Overall, this partnerships allows us to provide best-in-class service seamlessly throughout the continuum of care, creating a comprehensive process for optimum wellness.”

Atlantic Shores Managing Director of Finance Jenny Maugeri adds, “We were looking for a partner who could offer resources that would otherwise be unfeasible for a community of our size to acquire on our own. After meeting with the CRH team, we discovered how similar we were -- both independently owned and managed -- and saw it as a perfect partnership opportunity.

“By providing us with expert healthcare management services, CRH will also help ensure we are following best practices and operating at peak efficiency, in order to make the business a profitable one.”

The only independent, community-based hospital in the Hampton Roads region, Chesapeake Regional Healthcare often works with partners, and recognized Atlantic Shores as another like-minded, independent institution.

“We’re proud to be partnering in the continuum of care by providing the medical management for the residents of Atlantic Shores,” said Peter F. Bastone, Dr.PH, MBA, MACHM, president and CEO of Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. “Our partnership helps us fulfill our mission as we work with our affiliated partners to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve. Together, as independent care providers, we can share resources that benefit our community members.”

The program’s enhanced healthcare options are already available at Atlantic Shores, with both management teams working toward a seamless transition of services and care.
