Waterlogg Productions Christmas Specials Airing on Public Radio Stations Nationwide

Four different Christmas specials airing on public radio stations nationwide created by Joe Bevilacqua, veteran writer, radio producer and Napanoch, NY resident.

Napanoch, NY, December 20, 2007 --(PR.com)-- This year is a special one for Joe Bevilacqua (or Joe Bev as he is often known). The veteran, award-winning writer, cartoonist, radio producer and actor has not one, but four different Christmas Specials being broadcast on public radio stations across the country, over the next two weeks.

The holiday programming, created by Bevilacqua and his Waterlogg Productions, ranges from four-minute essays: "The Christmas I Saved Macy's," a true story that happened to Bevilacqua when he was three years old in 1964, told in his own words, and “A Rockabilly Christmas," the story of early rock music pioneer Ray Campi, to a half-hour radio play, "Sherlock Holmes Creepy Christmas in Scotland," written, produced and directed by Bevilacqua, who also performs in it, and a one-hour compilation of his best holidays stories: “The Joe Bev Holiday Treat,” featuring his childhood creations, Willoughby and the Professor, and a rare recording of Daws Butler, the voice of Yogi Bear, as “Sleepy Santa.”

“These stories are for the entire family,” beams Bevilacqua. “I created them so that radio listeners could have a respite, this holiday season, from all the depressing news and trite record spinning.”

Joe Bev's holiday programming can be heard on his local NPR stations, WAMC and WJFF, as well as WGBH in Boston, KUT in Austin, TX, and others.

You can hear Joe Bevilacqua's holiday programming locally on WAMC/Northeast Public Radio (96.5 FM, Ellenville, NY) Friday, December 21 at noon during “Midday Magazine,” and on WJFF (90.5 FM, Jeffersonville, NY) Sunday, December 23 at 9 pm, as part of “Horse for the Holidays.”

Bevilacqua has edited and written several books, including Daws Butler: Characters Actor, the authorized biography of the voice of Yogi Bear. A frequent contributor to National Public Radio, he has won many awards, including a Silver Reel from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters for A Guy Named Joe Bevilacqua. His radio documentary Lady Bird Johnson: Legacy of a First Lady won best radio documentary at the 2001 New York Festivals. Most recently, Bevilacqua won a New York Festivals for his 2006 All Things Considered tribute to cartoon legend Joe Barbera. Bevilacqua has also written, directed and acting in hundreds of radio dramas for NPR and XM Satellite Radio. In addition, he writes three to five articles per week for The Ellenville Journal in Ellenville, NY. He also contributed a number of articles, essays and cartoons to the premiere issue of Orange Magazine. “Joe Bev” and his wife and co-creator, Lorie Kellogg, live in their uniquely cartoonish home, that they call Camp Waterlogg, in the woods of Napanoch, NY, with their three dogs, George, Gracie and Zasu, and their two cats, Offica Pup and Krazy Kat. You can hear over 30 hours of his audio work, much of it for National Public Radio, at: www.joebev.com.
