Yale Event Shows the Old Ways Are New Again

In a recent conference at the Yale University Cancer Center, modalities for optimizing pain management and palliative care were discussed by expert speakers. Energy Medicine, one of the topics, was recently referred to by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Resident Medical Expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show, as the "next frontier in medicine." Dr. Dorothy Martin-Neville, founder of the premier school for Energy Medicine in the Northeast, The Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences, Inc., was the EM expert.

Bloomfield, CT, December 21, 2007 --(PR.com)-- According to a Yale Cancer Center conference held in the Anlyan Center at Yale University on December 11, 2007, the old ways are the new ways. The conference, entitled “Demanding Excellence in Pain and Symptom Management -Challenges for 2008 and Beyond,” discussed expanding options to pain management and palliative care. The varied mainstream medical approaches were discussed along with the additions of a number of techniques known as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (or CAM). Panelists represented diverse fields such as art therapy, music therapy, social work and psychotherapeutic interventions, energy medicine and chaplaincy support.

Dorothy Martin-Neville, PhD, founder of the Bloomfield, CT-based Institute of Healing Arts and Sciences, said that “It is an exciting advancement that methods which have been around for hundreds of years are again recognized. The many options available to support full health and healing in patient care are new to the mainstream and education and exposure is needed. I think this program represents an important part of that education locally for those who could so readily recommend such services.”

The Institute for Healing Arts and Sciences will be furthering the aim of public education of Complementary Alternative Medicine on February 23 and 24, 2008 by hosting a Two- Day ‘Overview of Energy Medicine’ workshop in Worcester, MA. Dr. Mehmet Oz, Oprah Winfrey’s Resident Medical Expert, says “energy medicine is the new frontier of medicine.”
