Avasant Foundation Announces the Digital Youth Employment Initiative at the Haiti Business Process Outsourcing Sector Launch

Los Angeles, CA, December 24, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Avasant Foundation, in partnership with the Center for Facilitation of Investments (CFI) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) launched its Digital Youth Employment Initiative at the official launch of the Haiti Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector on December 15, 2015 in Port au Prince, Haiti. Avasant Foundation’s comprehensive program will train high potential and under-served youth for thriving careers in the BPO sector. Riding on the success of the Foundation’s Jamaican Youth Digital Employment Initiative, this program aims to continue the work to provide job skills training and education to under-served youth population in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The aftermath of the 2010 earthquake fueled the need for Haitian government to develop their outsourcing sector as a key to the future successful socio-economic transformation of Haiti. As a nearshore destination to the US, Haiti’s abundant educated talent pool, multilingual workforce, geographic proximity, and cost effectiveness offer a unique opportunity for global investors. The Haiti BPO Global Launch brought experts together for a day of discussions to drive economic growth, create digital jobs, and build a BPO infrastructure within Haiti. Avasant Foundation’s Youth Digital Employment Initiative will foster employment creation for Haitian youth to succeed professionally in BPO sector and at the same time will add to the sustainable growth of the Haitian BPO industry.

The Avasant Foundation Youth Digital Employment Initiative partners includes, Inter-America Development Bank, Center for Facilitation of Investments (CFI), Connect Americas, Digicel, Nearshore Americas, and Triangular.

“This is the beginning of a new era in the socio-economic transformation of Haiti. We are thrilled to be proactively involved in the global launch of Haitian BPO industry. Avasant Foundation’s Digital Youth Employment Initiative will impart skills necessary to be employable in the BPO sector in Haiti,” noted Chitra Rajeshwari, Executive Director Avasant Foundation. Through this initiative, Avasant Foundation aims to train 30 under-served Haitian youth in the first quarter of 2016.
