Segway Tour to Benefit Restoration of Vandalized Monuments in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh

Raleigh, NC, February 01, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Through the month of February, Triangle Glides will donate a portion of ticket sales of its Historic Oakwood Segway tour to Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh for the restoration of nine historic headstones and war memorials that were vandalized on Dec. 30, 2015.

"We were deeply saddened to hear of the damage done to the monuments in Oakwood Cemetery and want to do what we can to help," said Todd Masinter, owner of Triangle Glides.

Oakwood Cemetery encompasses 102 park-like acres in downtown Raleigh. It was established nearly 150 years ago as a final resting place for Confederate dead. Many prominent city, state and national leaders have been laid to rest on the beautiful oak, maple, dogwood and azalea studded grounds.

Triangle Glides’ Historic Oakwood tour is a 90-minute Segway excursion along the meandering pathways of the cemetery grounds during which guests hear about notable personalities from Raleigh’s past. The tour also travels through the adjacent Oakwood Historic District, a residential neighborhood filled with restored homes representing late 19th and early 20th century architectural styles. The tour highlights the area’s history as participants travel on electric-powered self-balancing Segways.

Tickets for the Historic Oakwood Segway tour are $55 per person and are available through the Triangle Glides website (triangleglides.com). Reservations are required. Tours are conducted at scheduled times. Complete tour description and policies can be found on the website.

Triangle Glides is a Raleigh original since 2008, offering outdoor adventures with its narrated history-themed Segway tours, electric bicycle tours, and themed walking tours and team-building events.
