Into The Brush - Wilderness Art Program Starts May 2016

A new wilderness art program designed to combine painting lessons with wilderness observation for inspiration. Intent is to save the future of wilderness, one stroke at a time.

Ely, MN, February 14, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Today, Northwind Lodge is proud to announce their launch of a new art program, “Into The Brush.” This new-concept “art camp” features 4 and 7 day programs that are designed to take people with little or no artistic experience and introduce them to painting using wilderness and all of its elements as inspiration. The program provides all the art materials, gear and lodging and housekeeping cabins on Jasper Lake, 15 miles northeast of Ely, MN. Instructional focus will come from owner Joe Baltich, Jr., resorter/outfitter and former wilderness guide who is also an accomplished artist specializing in primarily wilderness paintings. Inspirational focus will be derived from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness region with shorter day trips by canoe and hiking. The intent of this program is to re-engage the populace in wilderness particularly by using artistic observation and learning to paint thus preventing wilderness from heading into the obscurity of the future due to current waning interest.

Into The Brush is is a unique experience allowing participants to access wilderness with relative ease and then return to the studio to paint aspects of it with hands-on instruction. The wilderness makes a rich platform of inspiration and subject matter.

Art lessons learned at Into The Brush will be lifelong, support positive mental health and may be pursued into old age. Plus, positive wilderness exposure makes wilderness more valuable to an increasingly ambivalent, digitally-addicted, society.

Baltich guides participants to discover that they actually can paint, survive spotty smartphone coverage and be inspired by the wilderness experience comfortably. Baltich says in regard to the program, “We’re committed to saving the future of wilderness one stroke at a time.”

About Northwind Lodge: The family-owned resort is one of Ely, MN’s oldest operating, original, resorts and run by the Baltich family since it began on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
