GoPro's Leo Baldwin to Keynote at CIMdata's PLM Road for the HighTech and Medical Device Industries

Well known futurist and inventor will make a presentation on fostering innovation and serendipity.

Ann Arbor, MI, February 25, 2016 --(PR.com)-- CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm announces that Leo Baldwin, Fellow at GoPro, the action camera maker, will round out PLM Road Map™ for the High Tech and Medical Device Industries with a keynote presentation that will consider in depth the role of innovation and its link to corporate survival.

In his keynote address, “Fostering Innovation and Serendipity,” Leo Baldwin will propose that innovation is not only essential to win in today’s marketplace but it is in fact essential to survival. To foster innovation, management must be able to identify innovators and understand how they may be different from top performers and why not all those identified as being a top performer are innovators. Baldwin will also illustrate the contribution of failure and serendipity to innovation by sharing an anecdote or two from his own experience.

Leo Baldwin is a physicist, a futurist, and an inventor with a career in applied research and product development. His work includes the design of a nuclear reactor core, a submarine life-support system, a rifle scope, a periscope, a ship-based helicopter landing system, machine vision systems and laser systems, and the optics for a utility-scale concentrated solar power system. He has investigated nuclear reactor accident scenarios, plastic waste recycling, surface plasmons, adaptive optics, and femtosecond-laser-created nano-structures. His government designs are in service in 26 countries and his commercial work has resulted in 48 US patents that may be found in glass plants, breweries, and silicon fabs, in iPads and iPhones, and in the Amazon Fire Phone. Currently, he is a Fellow at GoPro where he is developing technology for products to be seen three or more years from now.

PLM Road Map 2016 for the High Tech and Medical Device Industries is the must-attend event for high tech, medical device, and PLM practitioners globally - providing independent education and a collaborative networking environment where ideas, trends, experiences, and relationships critical to the industry germinate and take root. This one-day event will be held on May 24 at The Biltmore Inn & Suites in Santa Clara, California and will be followed the next day by a workshop on Innovation.
