24/7 IT People: The Rise and Rise of Managed IT Services

Poole, United Kingdom, March 09, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Blue Chip, the South’s leading IT Services and Solutions organisation, has predicted that the trend in Managed IT Services will continue to grow in the next financial year. Whether for short or long term requirements, in 2015 there was a noticeable increase in the number of businesses choosing to use Managed Services for their IT.

With the new financial year on the horizon, many businesses may be looking to incorporate upgrades or refreshes to their IT Services to keep up with the fast-evolving world of business technology. However, others are looking to the experts to manage their IT services for them for a number of reasons. So why is the need for Managed Services on the rise?

Speaking to Blue Chip’s three Sales Managers reveals that the size of the company can play a large role in the decision for a business to employ a third-party IT service provider. SME Sales Manager Guy Nelson said, “The customers my team work with can find it difficult to recruit and maintain talented IT staff. Small- to medium-sized businesses sometimes may not have the budget or even the need to employ a full-time member of staff to handle their IT needs, which is when they turn to Blue Chip. We have access to a large pool of talented experts, and can easily utilise staff to take the weight off our clients’ shoulders.”

However, it’s not just SMEs who are turning more and more to companies like Blue Chip; large companies, sometimes with a global reach, are also feeling the need. Blue Chip’s Enterprise Sales Manager Richard Bessant commented “More companies these days are finding that their IT has to be available 24/7, particularly as ecommerce becomes increasingly popular. This 'always-on' requirement can mean that an entire department is required to manage the IT infrastructure, which may require a large, expert team who are up-to-date with all the latest technology. We’re able to provide all of that, and can assist and support an existing 9-5 department, as well as covering out-of-hours work in addition.”

The mid-sized company is not without its requirements too, with many of Blue Chip’s customers needing support on an ad-hoc basis. For those not wanting or not able to commit to a long-term financial obligation, Blue Chip offer flexible, pre-paid support packages. Corporate Sales Manager Andy Forder remarked “My team work with many customers who usually have their IT covered in-house, but will occasionally need extra support services. A client utilising our Service Desk entity will get the same 24/7 support and monitoring afforded to clients with an all-inclusive package, but will only pay for the time that they used. This is very much a tailored service, where we explore the business’ requirements and adapt our service to match.”

The growth in the need for Managed IT Services is clear, with companies from all sides needing expert knowledge and support - be it fully-managed or simply on an ad-hoc basis. At Blue Chip, we foresee this trend continuing to grow as the fast-moving world of technology continues to gather even more momentum in 2016.
