Save Our Cemeteries to Clean-Up Lafayette Cemetery #1

Cemetery Preservation Organization Teams with the Industrial Asset Management Council to Beautify Historic Uptown Cemetery

New Orleans, LA, March 11, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Save Our Cemeteries announced today that it will be partnering with the Industrial Asset Management Council (IAMC) to perform a clean-up of New Orleans’ historic Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 on Saturday, March 12th, 2016 from 8:30 am to 1 pm. The IMAC will be providing 50 volunteers to help Save Our Cemeteries complete a general clean-up of the cemetery grounds, including the removal of vegetation from tombs, which SOC started last weekend. SOC started the Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 clean-up project on March 5th, with help from Bayou Preservation LLC and students from the Tulane University TIDES Program.

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is located at 1416-1498 Washington Ave in New Orleans, LA, in the heart of the Garden District, between Washington, Sixth, Prytania, and Coliseum streets. Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 is the oldest of the seven municipal, city-operated cemeteries in New Orleans.
